Khuvsgul lake is sacred to all Mongols and water is incredibly crystal clean and located in the northernmost province with 36km wide, 262m deep and 136km long. The highlight of the area is the ethnic reindeers’ herders called Tsaatan. This ethnic groups of Turkic origin related to the Tuvans are the most exotic and mystical people with small numbers, inhabit in the amazing beautiful taigas. Tsaatan people worship “the Eternal Blue Sky and Mother Earth” and retained an ancient, unusual culture based on shamanistic rituals and forest-based reindeer-herding.

Day - 1
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

After arriving in Ulaanbaatar, you'll be greeted at the airport and escorted to hotel. After lunch, take a city sightseeing tour including a visit to Gandan Monastery with its huge gold plated Buddha, a symbol of Mongolian national pride and cultural revival. See the monks chanting, spin some prayer wheels and view the intricately embroidered thanks. Then visit National Museum of Mongolian History, where you will see artifacts from Mongolia and Central Asia from the Stone Age to the present. Enjoy cultural performance in the evening.

Day - 2
Amarbayasgalant Monastery

After breakfast, we will drive to the Amarbayasgalant Monastery - the Monastery of Tranquil Felicity, once one of the three largest Buddhist centers in Mongolia, is located near the Selenge River. It is one of the most impressive and startling place and was built between 1727 and 1736 by Zanabazar, the first Bogd Khaan Undur Gegeen, a religious and cultural; leader. Amarbayasgalant monastery is a 2 storey building that covers an area of 87 hectares. In the early 1900s, the 8000 monks were practiced Buddhist philosophy, astrology and medicine. Overnight in the ger camp.

Day - 3
Bulgan Province

We will drive to Bulgan province. The most of the province is green with thick forests and magnificent pastureland. Arid steppe lands dominate the southern part of the province. Agriculture is facilitated by the presence of fertile soils, wide valleys and low mountains and gentle slopes. Bulgan province is famous for its horsemanship and taste of Mongolian traditional drink airag – fermented mare’s milk. We experience everyday life of horse breeder’s family and taste the airag. Overnight in a ger camp.

Day - 4
Khuvsgul lake

We will drive to Murun, a capital of Khuvsgul province and drive to Khuvsgul Lake, second largest freshwater lake in the Central Asia with 262m depth. This gorgeous lake is fed by 96 rivers and streams but only Egiin River flows out from the lake. The lake is surrounded by dozens of stunning mountains, thick pine forests and lush meadows with grazing yaks and horses. Afternoon hiking will be led by a local guide for 2 hours. Overnight in the ger camp near the lake.

Day - 5
Khuvsgul lake

In the morning we will hike in the surrounding forest mountains to have a better look of the crystal blue lake. There are horse riding and fishing opportunities around the lake. In the afternoon, we will drive to the north to visit Reindeer village where we can experience Tsaatan; reindeer breeders’ unique everyday life and traditional tent dwelling “Urts”. Return to the ger camp and overnight in the ger.

Day - 6
Olon goliin belchir

Drive to “Olon goliin belcher” located in the area of Tumurbulag village of Khuvsgul province. Arrive in 5 Rivers ger camp. This place is the confluence of five rivers: Delgermurun, Bugsei, Ider and Chuluut that makes the head of the Selenge River (the biggest river of Mongolia) Local exploration and overnight in ger camp.

Day - 7
Olon goliin belchir

Kayaking in Delgermurun River (Wide-river) The Delgermurun River will take your breath away. It's incomparable with its crystal clear water. It's not very difficult, so even in a company of inexperienced Kayaker, you can enjoy it. Tumurbulag village is homeland of Black-goat of Mongolia. Mongolian Black-goats are famous with its cashmere only uses the long strands of cashmere which are known for durability and high quality. You will see true-Mongolian nomadic lifestyle and famous black goat livestock. Kayaking distance is around 10km through the river. Return to the camp. Overnight in ger.

Day - 8
Olon goliin belchir

Start our second day of kayaking. Kayaking in Ider River (Youthful river) - Ider River is a river in the Khuvsgul and Zavkhan provinces in northwestern Mongolia and is, together with the Delgermurun river, one of the sources of the Selenge river. Mongolia is the homeland of many species of birds. In each year they come here and nesting, new bay born and leave during the winter. You can watch many of wild birds during your kayaking. Kayaking distance is around 10km through the river. Picnic lunch. Return to the camp. Overnight in ger.

Jargalant village

Day - 10
Khorgo, Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake National Park

We will drive through the beautiful mountain pass and see alpine landscape with many wild flowers. We will arrive in the Khorgo Volcano. Khorgo Volcano is located on the east shore of Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan. The latter, a lake about 20 km long, was formed when volcanic lava dammed the Suman River, cutting a large gorge through basalt. Afternoon hiking around the volcano. Overnight in the ger camp.

Day - 11
Kharkhorin via Taikhar Rock

After breakfast we will drive to Kharkhorin; an ancient Capital of Great Mongolian Empire and main treasure of Mongolian Buddhism, an Erdenezuu Monastery. Kharkhorin was established in the Valley of Orkhon River in 1220. Kharkhorin played significant role in Mongolian history and was a capital city of Mongolian Great Empire until Khubilai Khaan, a grandson of Chinggis Khaan moved the capital to Beijing of Yuan Dynasty. We will see 800 years old worshipping Turtle Rock near the temple. Erdenezuu Monastery – the first Buddhist monastery was founded by Avtai Sain Khaan, descendant of Chinggis Khaan, on the ruins of Kharkhorin in 1586. The monastery is surrounded by beautiful looking white walls with 108 stupas. Overnight in the ger camp.

Day - 12
Bayangobi

After breakfast, we will drive to the Bayangobi. It is a unique place with many different forms of natural landscape; combination of a Gobi sand dunes, forests and Rocky Mountains. In the afternoon we will visit Erdene Khambyn Khuree; the monastery is located in the majestic looking Khugnu Khaan Mountain. Enlightened Bogd Gegeen Zanabazar, a religious leader, philosopher, artist and sculptor was founded these Uvgun and Zaluu temples for his religious teacher. The soldiers of Oirad nobleman Galdan boshigt destroyed the monasteries and assassinated the monks in 1688. Hiking around Uvgun Temple in Khugnu Khaan Mountain and around the sand dunes. Overnight in the ger camp.

In the morning we will drive to Ulaanbaatar. Free schedule in the afternoon. Enjoy a farewell dinner and we will end our unforgettable journey.
